With a blink of an eye, it is now May. Almost half of 2013 be gone soon. What have you achieved?
It's been a year since I left my last job. It's been almost a year since I came back from Vancouver. I am still bumping around, technically.
It's however, a decision I made and I just have to deal with it.
Time and Money don't come together for a good reason.
That aside.. I was down. Defeated by health, which we all took for granted, mostly.
I have been having this headache and dizziness for a few days which I ignored. Ok, for a short moment I thought I was pregnant!
Then one early Sunday morning, it got so bad. I still ignored it. After a long day under the sun, and an afternoon nap...
It was a high 39.3 degrees fever when I went to the clinic at night. Was told to go to the hospital right away as I have pretty bad rashes too, the doctor suspect it's dengue fever. For those living in the west, it's a kind of viral fever in the tropical countries
Anyhow, was told to rest after a good 3hrs wait at the hospital.
I didn't get any better, I got worse!
Did a blood test on the 5th day of fever and was diagnosed Dengue positive. That means blood test everyday to make sure the platelet count doesn't drop. I was suppose to make sure I don't bleed or fall either.
On the 6th day, I went to the hospital for a blood test instead. For the first time, I was wheeled in a wheelchair cos I was too weak to walk. The nurse also tried very hard to get some blood samples from me which I screamed in pain and there was no blood coming out! WTF! I was transferred from the wheelchair to a trolley, a mobile hospital bed.
Again, for the first time I stayed in a hospital for a night. It wasn't even a proper ward as they do not ward dengue patients anymore. I was just at the A&E bay for the night. Having my temperature and blood pressure taken every other hour before 7am, a blood test.
My platelet count increased by a little, no more fever, after 3 packets of drip.. I was discharged and was told to have another blood test 2 days later.
I have never been this sick. I am still feeling weak at times, my vision is blur, I still feel dizzy.. Not so weak to walk around anymore, which is a blessing.
My platelet count doubled within 2 days, all thanks to Mommy making me drink all sort of stuff to help increase the count. The count is still low comparing to a normal person but I'm much better. No more blood test, no more needles
There are still some rash on my legs (mostly), waiting to disperse.
I also got back my appetite. For a food lover, losing appetite entirely is a scary thing. Even when I crave for something, I can't eat them. I just can't swallow any food in me. What a horrible feeling.
I promised myself since, to not take my health for granted anymore.
No more hospital and needles!
Everyone, stay healthy and be well
Oh, did I forget to mention I chopped off 6-7 inches of my hair recently too?
